Process Engineer

Job Description

Overview

The process engineer provides technical engineering support to Production, R&D, and Quality for implementation, maintenance, and improvement of manufacturing processes.


Responsibilities

  • Leads development and implementation of new manufacturing process equipment, from conception and RFQ through start up following IQ/OQ/PQ process and all required documentation (Work Instructions, PFMEAs, etc).
  • Defines manufacturing processes, performs capability studies, and reduces process variation to improve safety, quality, throughput, and sustainability.
  • Participates in new product/process development by assisting R&D and Quality Engineers during the Development Process.
  • Leads projects for introduction of Lean philosophies such as setup reduction/SMED, Poke Yoke, and automation/Jidoka.
  • Analyzes and implements projects to reduce costs of manufacture.
  • Provides technical assistance to maintenance on machine troubleshooting and repair. Act as liaison to equipment manufacturers.
  • Designs tooling and works with vendors to source.
  • Performs time study and cycle time analysis to aid in creation of labor standards, machine time standards, and line balancing.
  • Uses software for design, communication, and analysis of data: AutoCad, Solidworks, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and/or Minitab.
  • Utilizes knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical, and control systems of machines along with technical understanding of material properties (fluids, knitted and/or nonwoven) to solve product quality and process issues.
  • Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
  • Others may be assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or Material Science from four-year College or university; and seven to fifteen years related experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None are required for this position. Lean Six Sigma Belts (Yellow, Green, Black) and PMP Certification are highly desirable.
